In 2020, a WRTB wind turbine was installed alongside a solar array on the rooftop of a hotel on Cozumel, Mexico. This location, chosen for its exposure to the powerful weather systems of the Gulf of Mexico, has served as a rigorous, real-world testing ground for over five years.
The system has consistently generated electricity without interruption, demonstrating exceptional durability. Its most significant test came during Hurricane Beryl, when the turbine withstood confirmed wind gusts of 44 m/s (approx. 99 mph). Throughout the storm and in the years since, the WRTB turbine has continued to operate flawlessly, requiring no emergency shutdowns or storm-related repairs.
